Was just perusing Home Depot's website and came across a genny that some may have an interest in. 2500 surge/2200 continuous52 db noise, 48 lbs. 3 yr warranty. $699They specifically claim it will run a 15000 btu AC. For those that want small, light, and to very occasionally run an ac (though likely with everything else off) and supposedly quiet, this could be an option. Apparently they think the extra 600 cont watts is enough of a difference. I know its not red enough for some or yellow enough for others, and likely doesnt strike that perfect pitch. But the size, and capability could make it fit for some folks.

Looks like the success of Harbor Freights newer inverter gennies are bringing lots of other players into the mix lately, only time will tell if Westinghouse has their Asian manufacturer building these with longevity in mind. As for these gennies running a 15K AC no less a 13.5K AC, we live and RV mostly at high elevations and would like to see someone with extensive use running their AC units above 5K' elevation. As these smaller brand name gennies start to swarm the market and have good success, taking more market share year by year from Honda and Yamaha, maybe blue and red might actually drop prices a bit to compete. We have had our Champion 3100 remote start for a couple of years and it has been flawless thus far, it already has 200 hours of heavy use and has powered our rig's AC unit at over 8K' elevation.

I have the 2000 Westinghouse inverter that was top of the line when I brought it two years ago from Home Depot. Works fine...quiet. Used as back up to my solar system.

I see they also offer a 4500 watt unit, with remote electric start. I'd be more interested in that I think.

Actually, the continuous output is not the limiting factor. The continuous load from an air/con is typically around 1200-1500w. Even the little Honda 2000 with a 1600w continuous can handle that.

The issue is getting the compressor started, so it's the peak capacity that counts.

We have a Yamaha 2400. Bought it about 10yrs ago when there were far fewer options. It runs the air/con fine and we typically have the TV, fan and fridge running once started without issues.

I wouldn't count on that genny to run a 15K AC. 13.5K maybe

Wow .... that is really a low noise level, a light weight, a long warranty, and a decent price for a 2200 watt generator.

I wonder if it's too good to be true?

There has been "Westinghouse" generators around for some time.
This is just the latest edition.

Don't be fooled by the Westinghouse name. It was bought years ago by a company in China, just like Bausch and Lomb and other famous American brands.
As far as I know, service places are non-existent for them.
