It's sad to say ...but ...when you look around the country today at the behavior of young adults, allot of parents have done a very poor job of raising their kids and these kids are following what they learned.
Thia all goes along the lines of not letting people make mistakes early in life and learning common sense. If you make a mistake at a younger age you learn from it.
You cant learn when you aren't aloud to do anything. This goes with the schools, govt. etc. etc.
Nothing like dumbing down people!
Exactly!
Also, parents are "defending" their kids when the kids aren't behaving well o performing up to snuff. Talk to some teachers whose school district has been threatened with a lawsuit if their kid gets failed in school, so the school gave in to "avoid trouble". I know of at least one case of this and many teachers are hesitant to report bad behavior to parents because often the parents blame everyone but their child.
We have 7 children and would never put up with behavior that I see in public with other kids. I'm not saying they don't misbehave now and then, but they face the consequences. These consequences include loss of priviliges and/or apologies to anyone wronged by them.
Just recently there was a sociologist that was interviewed on a national news program that said today's kids are more self-centered than ever before in our nation's history. They have never faced adversity, never had to learn from mistakes, are constantly being told they are the best and can do no wrong essentially. He then predicted an epidemic of depression and suicide because they will have to face reality eventually when things don't go their way.
I feel sorry for these young people because somewhere along the way, this type of behavior will cost them one way or another (loss of job, inability to relate to others, etc). Bringing them up this way does nobody any good, them or society.
I'm not implying that all are like this, but it seems clear that a growing number are in the "misdirected" group.
