The funny thing is it is most often a grown up doing this. The kids usually stay in the roads...
One of our favorite camp spots at Westmoreland SP has an old deer trail I guess it is that cuts across the back of the camp site. We see people using this trail as a short cut all the time. We will be sitting at the picnic table enjoying the fire pit etc here they come.... This is less than 20-feet where we are sitting.

Ya know Roy that is troo about kids...
Come to think of it kids generally are much more respectful of invisible borders.
Seems like it's usually college age and above that want to own the whole camp.
