I think the price of fuel just keeps people local rather than making longer trips. I'm pulling a 32 foot TT with a 3/4 ton truck getting 10~11 mpg so our trips this summer are for the most part going to be local (within 50 miles of home). We did a Memorial Day trip to PA (600 miles round trip) and just gas and tolls (I hate living in the northeast) were around $250 (Throgs Neck Bridge, George Washington Bridge, NJ Turnpike, etc.).
