Another Winterizing question

We use the pink stuff & drain water heater. Does it matter if we drain the water heater after putting in the antifreeze since we bypass it anyway or must it be drained first? My reason for asking is that we are parked on dirt & draining first gets a little messy. I was thinking if we drained it after putting in pink stuff we could just let it drain & go back later & put plug back in.

  • and don't forget to flush out the water heater with something like the Tank Saver.
  • Once you bypass the heater its as if it isn't there. You can drain it whenever you want. I personally like to siphon the remaining water out of the heater after it is drained.
  • I drain mine while pumping antifreeze through the pipes and by the time I'm through the heater has dripped dry and is ready to have the plug replaced
