anti lock brakes on toad

Hi All
I have a chevy HHR as my toad. I use an SMI Delta force braking system. A few weeks back during a hard stopping situation the brakes locked up on my HHR flat spotting the front tires.
I am wondering why it wouldn't be possible to jumper a hot wire to the abs controller so it would operate while the ignition is in the accessory position? Which would in my opinion totally prevent another set of flat spotted tires.

Is anyone aware of this being done, or have any input on why it shouldn't be done?

  • Thanks to everybody for there replies. I pretty much figured it wouldn't be as simple as it seems on the surface.
    I think maybe I am being a little anal and trying to adjust the sensitivity to close to the brake application of the M/H. I have turned the sensitivity back a little bit.
    Didn't flat spot any tires on road trip this week.

    Pretty much was I was going to say. With todays computer controlled cars, there's all kinds of input to the BCM or Body Control Module and, the ECM or, Engine control module and even the TCM, Transmission Control Module. All those things work together on a second-by-second time frame. And this includes the ABS system. So, even if you could "Hotwire" the ABS system, you may be back feeding power to points it's not supposed to go. Just a few thoughts here.

    If you powered up the vehicle enough to do all this, it would be racking miles as you tow as well.
