our family has the pen fed credit card with fuel rebate. swipe at the pump and at the end of the month we get a credit of 5% of fuel purchases applied to the balance. so we get the rebate every month, no hassle. combine that with the Kroger fuel points makes a difference. To get the 5% you MUST swipe at the pump, not go inside. I've never had an issue with the card even when we used it multiple times at the same station same time, although we never use it more than twice at a given station. Never have called to let them know we were traveling, just enter zip code and purchase gets approved.
they give lower rebates on other purchases, but we only use the pen fed card for fuel purchases. Have other cards that are better for other rebates.
We are what the card companies call "credit card deadbeats" pay the balance every month and get the rewards.
