Any good fuel companies for a good fuel card for travel?

Chevron says I'm 'time honored member' since 1977, but traveling out of state and using the card only once they shut the card down. Then trying to call them to find out why the embarassment at the pum...

A good credit card to have for fuel purchases is the AMEX Blue Cash Preferred card. 3% on fuel purchases, in the form of a statement credit whenever you choose to apply it. Combine that with a Kroger backed or Safeway discount card and the cost of fuel, particularly diesel, drops -- sometimes significantly.

Discover IT is also good for the same reasons, 5% on fuel purchases. Caveat with Discover is that their discounts are rotating every 3 months. But fuel can appear twice yearly.
