Florida is a big state with a variety of cultures and economic interests. Tourism is very important, especially around Orlando and in the south, but it is not the mechanism that supports the entire state. The thing that would sink south Florida (pun intended) is rising sea levels, a series of severe hurricanes back-to-back, and/or the demise of air conditioning. Historically locations exist as long as they provide a comfortable environment for their inhabitants (full or part time). Tourism does help the economy a great deal, but there is much more to Florida than tourist attractions. I have decided to be a "Come-moan-Back". lizzie
