Stuck on this site for 2 weeks with no truck, just made my second trip pulling a 15 gal blue tote full of gray water uphill to the dump station by hand....Now I see the level in the black tank getting dangerously high....I never considered using my blue tote for this but you know what they say about necessity....Anybody ever use their blue tote for black water? Am I crazy for considering this?

Yes. No. The tote doesn't care.One thing you need to be cognizant of is how much sewage is still IN the hose after you close the dump valve. IOW, don't fill the tote too full before closing the dump valve. Ask how I know this!

They do make an adaptor for hooking the tote to your hitch.

I use mine all the time for that purpose when we're boondocking. Then I put it in the back of the truck and take it to a dump station about 15 miles away. Like 2Oldman says above. Don't overfill!

I have a blue tote and only use it once a year. Our annual 2 week trip over the 4th of July. All other trips i can do the distance.

Same rules apply. Empty black tank first than grey. One trip each to the dump station around day 9-10 buys me enough time.

Don't forget, that's what they're made for.

Some folks do and some don't use the tote for the black tank. Personal preference. Nothing wrong with doing so. We've never had the need to use it for the black.

I'd like to know which parks you refer to. After seeing this mentioned about Florida parks on here before, I did some checking by actually calling a number of State parks in Florida, all reporting this was not against the law. I do it all the time, in Florida, Georgia, North and South Carolina, and Alabama.

Pulling it by hand is no fun though - did that once.

Easier to beg forgiveness, I would't going asking ahead of time unless you had some reason to suspect it wasn't permitted.

While I understand the sentiment expressed I would not want to see the OP violate CG rules and get ejected either especially when they have no vehicle available. Caution is warranted here and using the blue tank for black water is forbidden in many Florida state parks and I am certain many private places as well due to the possibility of spills.
