Anybody work the Sugar Beet Harvest in Sydney?

Received all of the application information with job descriptions and hours you can expect to work. However there is no information on pay scale, overtime and RV park availability. My questions are: 1. What is the basic pay scale, 2. Do they pay overtime for weekly hours over 40, 3. Are RV sites within walking distance and does the company pay

I would appreciate knowing all experiences. I will be in the general area finishing up another workamper position and am considering this employ. THANKS!
  • I live between Sidney and Fairview. We live in a 5th wheel converted for the winter like all the other oil field guys. What RV park you choose, if you can find one with room, will depend on how much you want to pay and what amenities you want. You can go to the Sidney Herald online. Sidney Sugars has an ad on wages and an email address for the person you should contact.

With respect. Wouldn't it be best to call the specific employer? Get the information first hand.

Get the name of the person you talk with just in case any discrepancies occur.

It is a job and very important to have the correct information.

  • I didn't work in Sidney but I worked in MN for the same employment agency. Pay rates range from $10+ (for ground helpers) to $14+ for piler operators. If you have loader or skid steer experience, you could run those - pay would be somewhere in between. First year workers get a 5% bonus in December, returning workers get 10%.

Each Mon-Fri 12 hr shift, we got 8 hrs straight pay and 4 hrs at time 1/2. All 12 hrs on Saturday was time 1/2. All 12 hours on Sunday was double time.

Every piling station I saw in the red river valley, you had to drive from the nearest campground.
