It would appear you see more at the regional shows and in the huge Melbourne Camping Show. Millard was there, they have have been building TC's since the early 1970's. Truck Camper Magazine had them listed as Antique TC's not realising they were Australian and still going strong with updated Campers.Lance Campers that were at last years Sydney Show were not there. Who was waving the flag was Active Campers that seem to be in every show in the CountrySome Roof Tent people, but not muchConsiderable emphasis was placed on Class C Campervans this year. I still do not understand why a country with less than a tenth of the population of the US has so much more innovation in its RV industry than the US does.

Has anyone done a study of the number of RV owners per 100,000 population? Is it really so much higher in Australia? Even so, the many market segments in the USA have to be much larger, which should provide an ideal setup for innovation and niche marketing. But that is not the case at all.

Baffling. I have looked for evidence-based economic studies of this topic, with no success.

A combination of " doing it my way" trying to be different or radically different to the competition and doing it themselves. I get the impression, that a lot of US RV manufacturers play it safe, rather than innovate. Age group they are catering for would dampen a lot of innovation.

Just last week Cub Campers that make fold out trailer based Campers introduced a new electric erection mechanism that is 10% of the cost of similar mechanisms.

Lastly it looks like a shot from a US RV Show, but none of the RV's/ Vehicles have any US connection. Alternative Universe in Australia.

Robert, if it's true that the US manufacturers are unimaginative (and I think you are right), it is sort of surprising that some Australian company hasn't come to the US to fill the gap. Yes, it takes capital to do so, but there is a huge unmet need for rugged RVs.
