Anyone Carry Tree Trimmer?

We carry a set of loppers for minor trimming but we don't attempt large pruning because that indeed is the job of the campground. If they have branches low enough to cause damage to your rig, they should trim them.

I carry a pruner/saw with a 14' reach. I have used it and will use it again for LIGHT trimming of limbs. Fiver is 13'3" tall.

You're right- it's exactly the same thing, with exactly the same choice of remedies: Put up with it, ask for the vine to be trimmed, ask for a different table, or leave.

Whipping out the handy dandy pocketknife and sawing away at the vine is not an option.

I thought about carrying a trim saw. Still would have to climb roof as the one I have, electric, might be a tad short.
I've complained a few times and had to park in different sites etc.
KOA in West Memphis said they were required to keep them trimmed to 15 ft but hadn't got round to it or something. I fear sometime it could rip up a air conditioner cover antenna or skylights, windshield wipers or even the fiberglass.
One in Indiana had really low limbs, on the road to the RV park as do a great many. The county was supposed to keep them trimmed to 15 ft, if I remember correctly but were short on money or some other reason.
Perhaps their insurance would be interested if they are risking damaging Customers expensive RVs by not trimming the limbs etc.

I don't camp in trees if I can help it. The last time I did my TT trimmed a bird house. Why would they erect a bird high-rise in the way?????

it certainly is prohibited in some private parks, such as this one. Since the trees are redwoods they are typically not in the way. And, since you can park anywhere within the site, it's not a problem. But it is prohibited.

I have been to two parks where the branches were too low over the sites I had been assigned, I told the manager and the limbs were trimmed so I could get into the sites at both parks.

This all would be a non-issue if the CG owner/management would be responsible and trim the trees accordingly. If they rent out a space, that space should be adequate for the rig they are renting it out to. If the tree has fruit, and can't be trimmed, then that space should not be rented to any RV that the tree would interfere with.

We wouldn't accept it at a restaurant. Why would we accept it at a CG. If the owner doesn't want people cutting branches, they should do their maintenance properly. From management's perspective, you can't always control what the public does behind your back... but you can control what your staff does, and not even give the public a reason to think about cutting a branch down. I'm not saying cutting a branch is OK without permission, it's not. But why even give the public a reason to think that would be necessary?

Responsibility on the CG's management to keep spaces clear, or not rent them out, is key. Do that, and this whole issue would be a moot point for the most part, and everyone would be happier and safer.

The OP mentions that one of the obstructing trees was a fruit tree and the owner was reluctant to trim it while fruit was on the tree. This was correct on the part of the owner, fruit trees are trimmed while dormant and not while actively growing.

X10 Very well said. One guy can easily kill a tree by not knowing what he's doing. Unfortunately it won't die while they are there but a couple of weeks down the road the damage, often irreversible, becomes apparent. IMHO: Always ask first and abide by their answer. I wonder how many folks on this thread are from the "I can make my rig fit any where, just takes a little landscaping " or the "It's really a 40 footer but I put down 35' when I made the reservation crowd that never have trouble finding a site? :h
