Anyone have the Double Coin RLB1's Tires? (Reviews needed)

I'm specifically looking at the 245/70r19.5's. They look like they'd be a real good all-terrain tire for what I run in the pacific northwest, but I've had a hard time finding any reviews. I'd be using them with a 2012 GMC 2500HD and a Lance 830 camper.

  • I had Les Schwab put 4 RLB490's put on the drive axle of my 34' Georgetown. I do a lot of winter driving to the local ski resorts (Crystal Mtn), so far they've done well in a few inches of snow to hard compact snow. Been to Montana once on them from the Seattle area. I try not to go much faster than the 68 (K) speed rating on the tire so that hasn't been an issue. So far they've been a good tire.
  • I have Double Coin highway tires on my HR and have been very satisfied with them. Before I bought them I got a chance to talk with the owner of a chain of tire stores (Pete's Tire Barn) who had toured the factory in China. He was enthusiastic about Double Coin.

  • Interesting I didn't appreciate they were co-owned by Michelin. That helps a little. The name Double Coin sounds like a casino and if Les Schwab hadn't recommended the RLB490's I wouldn't have considered using that brand. I just don't like the high shoulder on the 490's so I'm hoping someone has tried the RLB1's.
  • Thanks Bud, I saw some of your posts about your DC tires when I searched the forum. Appreciate your input.

I like the tread pattern of the RLB1's, but I'm trying to get a few reviews before purchasing them. I'm wondering if the low speed rating (J) was an issue for anyone.

Oh and I'm right down the street in Mill Creek WA.
  • I have used Double Coins for last two or three sets.
Double Coins are used around here on many types of vehicles.
Not sure which Mill Creek you are at. If you get them from Les Schwab, make sure they get new ones. Manager here called warehouse to verify dates.
This is not slam to Les Schwab as they have heavy turn over of tires.
I would not buy them online!
