I retired at 55 after serving and protecting for 35 years and could not wait to leave the job and the consumers I had to deal with. My wife retired at 52 as a teacher two years before me. We saved and planned retirement funding and for me it was a goal with no thought on what we were going to do other than travel with our dogs in the MH. In my second year of retirement, a kidney stone revealed cancer during a scan. I was very lucky. It was slow growth and I had no symptoms and they got it all by removing 1/4 of my left kidney.
I am glad to be retired and alive with the ability to travel with my wife and our pets.
