We buy new stuff pretty often, but we also know it's not really a great financial decision, it just makes us happy. So, saying there's a "rule" to buy every 6 years sounds like terrible advice. However, if you don't like your current rig and want a new one, then go for it. But if you like what you have, why replace it?
