Anyone regret full-timing?

No regrets here and I never met one current or past fulltimer who regretted trying it. Some find out its not the lifestyle for them, but thats a far cry from regretting they tried it. Today there are so many people trying it for a wide variety of reasons, I think its to be expected that many only do it short term and some stay with it long term. Not everyone who decides to try fulltime RV'ing intends it to be a permanent lifestyle change.
I did it for 4 years and loved almost every minute of it, but was ready to try something different after 4 years. I've also lived on a sailboat fulltime cruising the islands for 2 years, and before that traveled around the world as a backpacking vagabond for 2 yrs. Before that I lead mountain climbing expeditions and taught people to hang glide off the side of a mountain. variety is the spice of life, I couldn't do anything fulltime for more than a few years.

Although retired, we never had a desire to full time. We travel with our TT 3 to 4 months annually but also enjoy retuning to our back woods homestead and orchard.

I'll just add, if there is any lingering doubt about being comfortable full timing, don't give up your sticks and bricks home until you try it.

To each, their own. It's great to be able to choose. :)

No regrets, looked forward to retirement and full timing, nearing nine years and loving not having to mow grass, best of all I do meet some really nice people.

It's not that you regret it. Most end up settling down in a warmer state they find the like after X amount of years on the road.

IMHO what I have seen is the full-timers that have children spread out across the US tend to keep the full-time life style longer.

Visiting all their family during the warm months and then come winter hunker down in a southern state like the snowbirds do. Best of all the worlds for them.

I don't regret selling the house and hitting the road. It was great, I feel very blessed to have had the opportunity to do so. Wouldn't change my decision.

I found myself always going to Florida every end of the year to spend the winter months in the sun AND when the housing market crashed I just could not pass up picking up one of the steals of a foreclosed home done here for practically nothing! I bought a real nice house on a couple of acres. Which eliminated my high cost of Florida CG's during peak season down here.

MH parked out back and still ready to go. Won't get rid of the MH. Plan on getting out of dodge during Florida's hot summers next year. Perhaps now I would be considered a reverse snowbird! :C

I never really full timed. I have to get my hands in the soil in the spring and I want to be some where I can tend to what I planted. I like the idea, but it just isn't for me and spouse.
We came as close as you could get before we realized it was a dream.

Not full timing yet, But I think you will find those that found they disliked it after a short time are those that jumped in without testing the waters first.

You see lots of post here and other RV's sites of folks with little RVing experience selling their (Big) S&B and getting a Big RV, to live the dream. :S

They find the change too drastic, they are way too use to having lots of space and room for stuff. I think you find a much higher percentage of these folks bag it within a year.

Those you have been RVing either a lot in later life or all their lives, they are use to smaller living space and living lighter.

DW and I are working towards this, just spent 4 months working as host, and our existing full time jobs.

We found out two things for sure.

1# Envy of true full timers, (without full time jobs) life seemed better more relaxed and happier.

2# We both felt more relaxed coming home to the 5er, than we did when returning to the S&B after work.

One needs a RV that has what they need to live comfortably without excess. I think the highest "Failure Rate" would be those that try to go straight from a 2,000+ sq. ft. S&B to even a large RV. Too much too soon.

Just an FYI, the four months went by way too fast, we enjoyed almost every minute, we both grumbled about the two jobs thing from time to time.

I have not done this myself, but have read many articles on the subject. From what I gather, it's not 'regrets' people have --- fulltimers, for the most part, go back to a more 'settled' lifestyle after a while.
Apparently, a lot of previous fulltimers missed a routine and seeing the same people, so they settled for an RV park to live in. They just got tired of meeting people, and then they were gone.
Others simply become tired of travel and the wanderlust leaves.

Then, there are some complaints that if something is wrong with your RV, and it needs a repair, you have no house until the repair is completed.

But again, the articles I have read don't talk about regret. Just simply that after so many years, people choose a more settled lifestyle. No problem with that..

No Regrets! It just makes retirement soooo much better!

My folks had the dream of selling it all and hittin' the road. Well, that lasted a couple of years, settled in at an RV park and lived out their lives there. They had used the equity in the sale of their house to purchase the nice class A motorhome. Health issues were part of the reason as well as age.

We fultimed for 3 1/2 years. And, that was sufficient time for us to feel that we had enough information to decide which lifestyle we preferred. We wanted to have more living space, in different locations (for a number of reasons), AND use the motorhome for traveling from A to B. For us, it's the best way to travel. Some of us call it RVing, some of us call it something else.

Regarding our engagement in trying different adventures (and lifestyles), we have no regrets.
