Anyone towing a VW van

Question

We have a 30ft class A motor home with a Roadmaster towbar and currently tow a 2010 Ford Escape. We are thinking of picking up an older VW van to tow. It could double as an extra bedroom since we always have extra kids and grand kids with us. Has anyone had any experience towing one?

I had a 1970 VW Westfalia camper van that I towed from California to North Carolina. Was never a problem. Just don't try and back up with it attached. Drove it for seven years as a daily driver after that trip. Make sure the transaxle is topped off with oil before towing. I had a flat bumper made to attach a tow bar to that mounted at the same mounting points where the front bumper attached.  I removed the standard front bumper when towing,
