Thanks everyone. Great input.
The trailer was only loaded about a third of the way for a trip. So, maybe keeping the shank as is is going to be okay once a another 150 or so pounds goes on the tongue. But I'll monitor.
I'm not too concerned on clearance. The photo might give a different impression. But again, we'll keep a close eye.
Barney, thanks for your input. I read the manual about keeping the bars parallel and forgot all about it when out there. I've got to go a few miles from the house to find some level parking. I'll get back out there next weekend and try to address that.
I'm not comfortable adjusting the angle of the ball. in all my years towing, I've never done it, and it just doesn't feel right.
