We too live in Southern Ontario. We brought our RV home from storage yesterday just in case of an extended power outage. At least the RV has a generator and we could use the micro, etc. if necessary. Today is suppose to be worse than yesterday as far as ice goes - hopefully all will work out for everyone - take the advice of stay off the roads.

May I offer you some of our rain? There's hardly been a day without it for weeks and weeks and we want it gone. :(

Not to worry, when the summer eventually arrives, they're saying it's going to be long and hot. That could mean another bad year of wildfires. :(

Well...Its got two weeks to stop or I'm going anyway. LOL. Wife may be in the camper allot.

Here on the island our average rain fall is 22" per year this year we have gotten 23" already.
But the tulips are in full bloom. the flowering trees have all lost the pedals and are half way leafed out, and the lilac are showing color.

85 yesterday, 42 today and getting colder.
Winter is not over.

Here on the Lake Michigan Shoreline in West Michigan straight across the wide lake from Milwaukee WI (approx. 100 miles) it's not that bad at all. Just some wind and a light dusting of snow pellets here early Sunday morning and nothing remotely like what was forecasted to have occurred. Temp is 33 at 11:45 am and rising so any precip will be just rain.

Officially, the weather stations report a total of 1/10 to 6/10ths of an inch of snow is on the ground in our area and the same at our home as of 11am 4/15 here and the temps will be rising to the upper 30s today, so it will melt anyway very soon. 50+ miles to the north of us and roughly 100 miles east of us it's quite a different story.

The odd thing is that up north at the Straits, the Big Mac 5 mile long bridge connecting the L.P to the U.P., and the southern U.P., approx 275 miles north of us, just some wind and no snow fell. However, about 100+ miles to the west of there they got dumped on and with ice also. The cold side of the Great Lakes area in the USA! We feel sorry for the folks in Minnesota etc as they know so well what being real bitterly cold really is!

In southern Michigan it is 32 degrees, we have ice on everything, and it is still raining.







Occasional gusty winds have caused some scary sounds. I heard a really loud, sharp cracking sound while I was out taking these pics, but could not determine what it was... Hope everything remains standing.

Must be inland and away from Lake Michigan? Our grass looks about the same as yours but no freezing rain ice on any of the trees that we can see and we have big trees, mostly maples and a few oaks all around us and there are a couple evergreen pines too. Hope your ice doesn't bring your trees down. Maybe just some weak or dead branches might come down and that's not a bad thing either as it makes room for the healthy branches to grow and flourish. Nature at work!

I'm holed up in the Joplin, MO area attempting to get back to boarder country. Figure my closest chance for a safe run north is maybe next Friday.

Last year I was home at the end of March with green grass. I try to stay a week or two behind the hummingbird migration. Poor little guys must be dying off right now on the forefront.
