I watch the mirrors and pay attention to feelings and never felt a thing, the only thing left was bit of sidewall and cords and I don't know how many miles I went before someone waved at me...(Even after the wave, nothing was visible).
we did, sorta. while towing the '03 jeep wranger (key in the ignition and turned to the unlocked/off position) the front wheels locked up after we hit a fairly decent pothole on I-24 just north of Nashville. never felt it, 'it' being the front wheels of the toad locking up. had it not been for a couple passing us in a 4-wheeler frantically motioning to the rear wouldn't have noticed it till we stopped...which would have been another 5-10 miles down the road. the spare went on the right front to replace that tire...it was in shreds.
the left front was damaged but still holding air. the key was still in the ignition in the unlocked/off position but the steering wheel was locked. had to start the engine and beat the snot out of the wheel to get it released.
ended up getting 4-new tires (another long story) and we've had no further trouble with either the wrangler or '10 liberty.
