  • Dispersed camping at those 2 areas and couple of places in Camp Verde have been 'fuller' since the Cottonwood Walmart is off limits (Shoot out with police)

Some of the RVs currently using these areas are from the TT CG spending their 'required' time out of TT.

Most, like the one in 1st picture, are ones you see ALL the time that use to live at Walmart and now use the 2 areas mentioned in article or in dirt area by Shell Station at I-17 or Bashas' Parking lot in Camp Verde OR OR OR....

They prefer the term "stealth campers"

They will probably have more 'stealth campers' soon when the dirt field by Shell is transformed into a Commercial Marijuana Growing Enterprise next year.

While it is true that Some very few do not follow the guidelines.. it is also true that news outlets seek out these few and far between violators and tend to play them up like they are the majority instead of a very tiny minority.

So one has to read the news with... Well, a large block of sodium chloride some days

(For those who do not understand.. A very large grain of salt).

I didn't read that within the article- that the reporter(s) were seeking out violators and highlighting that aspect per se. Merely keeping readers in the know which I view as an important part of their job.

I will say I was intrigued (in a positive manner) by this form of camping and better appreciative of the extra thousands we spend for on board bthrm spaces, certain kitchen facilities and water tank sizes.

  • You can add me to those that use the dispersed areas to camp. In particular the Forest Service area on the Thousand Trails Road just off 260. We spend our "week out" from the Thousand Trails park there. I see a lot of TT members here. Also a lot of Escapes have get togethers here.
The area has always been clean during our stays.
  • It's too bad that "some" will ruin it for all by not following the guidelines.
  • But the campers we spoke with relate stories that illustrate these rules are not necessarily obeyed.

This is what will cause it to be shutdown or reduced. The actions of the few impact the majority.
  • Won't be long before the gubmint takes this away too! They can't stand not to be able to take their pound of flesh!
