Before you install the unit have the wife also check the height of the unit in relation to the ground, my wife is shorter than me and I am glad that I asked her otherwise she would not have been happy with the height of the handle.
As for some kid turning the unit forward and not being able to open the door, the plastic is not as strong, it will brake and let you out.
There should be a "stud" framing the door and the screws provided with the unit will hold well.
