At what psi can I travel 65-75mph?

Tires are tested in a laboratory on a rotating drum with a static force pushing down on the tire. It is not subject to pot holes or the crown in the road or other rough conditions which increased the load on tires. ST tires are tested to 65 mph and no more so who knows how much faster they can go. They might start flying apart at 66 or 86. One thing for sure, they will be damaged at sustained speeds higher than the rated speed. Increased speed causes increased heat and heat is the enemy of tires. If you need to go faster get LT tires.

Actually, 65mph might be a laboratory certified test and just maybe you should not run the tire at the test speed for too long.

Did I miss something? The question was is there a +10psi rule? I don't know of one myself, and I don't see any posts that confirm there is.

The whoosh refers to the missing of the actual topic, that is, where is this +10psi rule that allows an ST tire to travel up to 75mph.

I would be happy to drive 65mph if I had a tire with a higher rating, but, the 65mph limit is just wrong.

One thing is for sure, driving a 65mph tire at its limit leaves no reserve capacity. I have 22% reserve load capacity at 50psi. Apply that to 65mph and I suppose I would need to travel 48mph.

I would never wish anything unfortunate happen to you however accidents can happen to anyone at anytime and your just asking for trouble, jmho. I will continue driving at 60 and enjoy the scenery.

Friend of mine towed at 70, and 75. Even after he had to replace the wheel well coverings on the side of his 5er when the blown tire took them all off.
