Hi, John...I see you're still trying to clear up the same question we haven't seen answered in the
other current thread this question arose in!
Let me say that this is a purely academic question for me, as I wouldn't think of towing at speeds faster than the low sixties, no matter WHAT tires I had on. Who wants to pay what I like to call "the stupid tax": huge penalties, gas-mileage-wise? The oil companies are doing just fine already...;)
The question has to do with an oft-repeated statement that speed limits on ST's can be exceeded under specific conditions having to do with tire pressure and load. Some folks seem to think that adding ten PSI allows for such an increase, although no one appears to be able to come up with a manufacturer directive that says so. Furthermore, some appear to think that if true, the statement constitutes a directive to exceed the tire's stated maximum pressure- a presumption that I believe to be untrue.
