Just read where AT&T/Direct tv to phase out satellite tv in 3-5 years in favor of streaming. Not sure about Dish but they may not be far behind. AT&T also said that if your an AT&T mobile subscriber that you would unlimited access for tv streaming.

seems strange to medidn't they launch a new satellite just a few years agogood for ten yrs or moreseems like they would be abandoning good equipment, unless they sell it to somebody else

And Dish has already dipped their toe into the streaming pool with SlingTV.

From the article: "Earlier this week, CEO Randall Stephenson revealed one way it will leverage that position. AT&T mobile subscribers will be able to use unlimited data on DirecTV Now without it counting against their monthly usage caps."

I agree ... and I'm still waiting to hear how they will handle remote locations with poor or no cell service.
