Just read where AT&T/Direct tv to phase out satellite tv in 3-5 years in favor of streaming. Not sure about Dish but they may not be far behind. AT&T also said that if your an AT&T mobile subscriber that you would unlimited access for tv streaming.

NOT at the present rate of wireless data expansion
they want to go streaming, they are going to have to provide unlimited video data
    or people won't migrate/change

From the article: "Earlier this week, CEO Randall Stephenson revealed one way it will leverage that position. AT&T mobile subscribers will be able to use unlimited data on DirecTV Now without it counting against their monthly usage caps."

  • And Dish has already dipped their toe into the streaming pool with SlingTV.
  • seems strange to me
didn't they launch a new satellite just a few years ago
good for ten yrs or more

seems like they would be abandoning good equipment, unless they sell it to somebody else
