It was nice of you to take the time to explain your reasons to close the thread about rudeness and what all that included the political reference to Old Biscuit. Your response was well written.
I don't remember him ever posting anything other than trying to steer people in the right direction on system issues with their RVs. Did I miss something?
If nothing else his posts should live on to help others unless it was his choice to have them wiped.
I never really had a beef with him. I think some of the other mods might have, but he and I were never on bad terms.
Looking through our notes I see that it will be one year tomorrow since we closed his account. Without overcomplicating the explanation, there are two ways to close a member's account:
* Simple Ban: Admin deletes the account and the member can't log in anymore, but the member's posts remain intact. If you search for the member or try to click their profile from one of their posts, you'll be sent to the "Member Not Found" page. This is the most common form of disabling (banning) an account.
* Purge & Ban: This is the nuclear option and it's more common for spammers. When the account is banned/deleted, so are all of their posts. There are no traces of the member's activity except for mentions that other members post, like quoted posts, etc.
Looking at Admin's notes, it looks like Admin reluctantly banned Old Biscuit after more than one request. I don't see any mention of a purge though, so his posts should still remain.
Having said that, our Search here is pretty unreliable. You can search google though if you specify the site. Something like:
site: rv.net "Old-Biscuit" <-- delete the space between the colon and the "r". I added the space, otherwise those two characters make an :R.
That search should find all of his posts here. The google results will take you to the printable version of the page, which is a pain. You can backspace over the print stuff at the end of the link to get to the normal pages though.
Printable example: https://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/28620655/
print/true.cfmRegular Page: https://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/28620655
It's not as easy as just using the forum Search, but google will find things that our cranky old search sometimes can't find.
