Atwood furnace blower squeel

I had the exact same furnace and problem. After reading all the nay sayers talk about sealed bearings I thought I had nothing to lose so I went to ACE hardware and bought a "Zoom-Spout Lubricating Oil" for less then a few bucks. Worked like a champ.

A comprehensive Atwood/Hydroflame manual can be found here. Page 14 has instructions for removing/replacing the motor relative to a recall, but they work just as well for other motor service of course.

Pretty much what happened to us in Hill City. Temp at 02:00AM 21F, banshee entered the RV and made it'self at home. Turned it off, it would never run again, it wast frozen. Of course it was only 21 years old and barely broken in.

You'll be replacing the motor. One thing that may happen is that it won't spin fast enough for the furnace to reliably fire up.

Some experience concerning sleeve type motor bearings and maybe not directly toward atwood furnace blower motors. Check to see if motor spins freely while motor is cold, if it spins with resistance good chance you need to replace motor. If It spins freely, oil will give you some time. regardless I would replace the motor.

I recently had mine replaced, and I was surprised at how hard it was to turn the almost-seized motor rotor. I believe there's just sleeves in there, not bearings.

Just is correct, no bearings in these motors, just sleeves.

If they had real bearings they'd never wear out.

My furnace lasted 16 years before motor squeal, just for an fyi. And I use it a lot.
