Auxiliary diesel tank

Has anyone heard of someone being cited or fined by a state inspector or EPA for using a gravity fed diesel tank in their truck bed? I would like to use one. I seem to be reading that it is now against the law. If that is true we will now have the truck police. Northern still is selling them. Thanks for any info.

failed my CA smog due to a gravity feed tank.

    Not sure what I'm missing??
Why is this against the law? And how does this make you fail and put more stuff into air?
  • No issues in Colorado. I thought diesel did not require the transfer pump.
  • Haven't heard of it. Half of the trucks in Alaska have them. They're hauling fuel for the truck, gas for snowmachines, avgas for airplanes, heating fuel for the cabins and sometimes it's just plain weight for better winter driving.

  • I know I failed my CA smog due to a gravity feed tank. Put in a double ball valve, one at the tank and one at the trucks fill neck and the smog referee finally agreed to pass it.
