Awning Identification/Replacement

I have a 2001 Forest River Surveyor 210. The awning fabric is becoming brittle and torn and if I have it out and it rains the water gets inside the layers and fills like a balloon.

I tried talking to camping world to find a replacement but they told me I had to get the tag off the awning... I have looked all over it and do not find a tag anywhere.

Wondering if anyone can lend some guidance.

  • Here a couple of places to purchase new awning fabric. Make sure you follow the directions on the sites as to how to measure the size of the fabric you need. Each site does it different. You can replace it yourself but you will need to have three people to do the job. I know because I did mine. Watch as many videos on how to replace the fabric as yo can find. I used a little from each video in the replacement of mine. It took me a couple of hours.

  • what is the best place to order from?

In regards to measuring they talk about measure from each end to the middle... why not just measure the width and length?

Do any of you use something like this? http://www.dyersonline.com/awning-pro-tech-awning-protection-system.htmlhttp://www.dyersonline.com/awning-pro-tech-awning-protection-system.html

The top where it attaches to the camper is where the fabric broke down. For the time being not that it will help I did use some clear Gorilla tape and went up to the leading edge and underneath so it does not get torn off while driving.

good video on you tube. can replace yourself. if you chose to, remember to use the plastic piece for the end so you do not tear it while sliding in

What plastic piece for the end ? are you talking about?
  • when you take off the end that you will slide the awning in the track, it leaves the sharp edge of the roller tube. this cap looks just like the end cap only plastic so you do not tear the awning as you slide it into the track
