- FishinghatExplorer III always store the awning when leaving for more than a few minutes. The exception is in the winter, when down in Yuma, Az., the awning is secured to the ground. However, on two occasions in three years, high winds were forecast and I stored the awning. It was a pain since the tie-downs had to be untied and the stakes thru the bases of the vertical supports had to be pulled up.
- Old-BiscuitExplorer IIIWe always retract (roll it up) awning if leaving the CG.
Never know when a wind storm will blow in.
I have retracted several awnings on unattended RVs that could have been damaged from wind storms.
Heck.....have had a couple close calls when we were in the RV and sudden wind storm. 18' awning is fun trying to put away in a heavy wind.
Be prepared.......stow before you go. Only takes a few minutes and no surprises when you get back
