When we were looking to upgrade from our Wilderness 27X to TT bunkhouse with slides in '05. I went to the Seattle RV show solo as the DW was in Hawaii with her kids. I spent ALL day there after riding the ferry over and walking to the show. I looked at a couple of MHs and then checked out every TT in the style we wanted and, believe it or not, found EXACTLY what we wanted, problem was that there were two of them, Jayco and Cougar. Then I spent two more hours looking at just those two and for the life of me,can't figger why the salesmen didn't catch on to me. I did pick the Cougar as it really seemed to be better quality, had more standard features and was fiberglass as against the metal sided Jayco. I got the price on the show model as well as all the extras they had on it and headed home. That night I emailed 4 dealers in Portland,Tri-cities,Marysville and Tacoma, told them exactly what I wanted and that I had financing and was ready to buy at the best price. No answer from Portland or the tri-cities, Tacoma answered two weeks later and Foley's answer was on the computer the next morning and less than the show price I kinda joked about the size of the propane tanks, the crank-up tongue jack and the difference between 12V and 6v batteries. When I went to pick it up,lo and behold, it had larger propane tanks and full, an electric tongue jack and two 6V batteries at no extra price. That was service.
The first couple of times we went looking at MHs,we had salesmen with us and later we would sneak on the lot to look by ourselves. Now that we have a Class A DP, we know what to look for also.
