Just watched the video. Nice idea. I don't like that the spare slides out the side. There is always potential that there is traffic flying by on that side of the rig while you're trying to get spare out. I would prefer if the the tire slid out the rear.
What about using the Hide A Spare to carry a Porta Bote. I've got the 10'8" model and I plan to use the Hide A Spare mounted toward the front passenger side of my 5er underbelly. The Hide A Spare will hit the Portabote somewhere between the 6 1/2 to 7 1/2 spot. I'll carry it with nose facing rear and if necessary add a support bar for the nose. I'm hoping I won't need the support bar given that I'll have the heavy end on the short side of the Hide A Spare.
I'm installing the model 28216 which is right for my enclosed underbelly and BAL NXG frame (Z frame).
Would love to hear if anyone else has done this. I had it hanging under the back using Porta Bote OEM brackets but it kepts scrapping on street dips and eventually destroyed the rear bracket (the one that locks)
