Try spraying it with deer repellent, you can find it on Amazon. Not sure what they make with, maybe a synthetic coyote pee.
My wife, the Polish Princess, has an aversion to anything that walks or crawls that isn't human. If she sees a deer in the yard it's "GET THE GUN!". I asked her Majesty, once, why we located her castle in Exurbia, where all the critters are free to roam and seem to be an enjoyable experience for most. I got the Royal Look. :R
