Bar Keepers Friend really works

I had read a number of posts here on using Bar Keepers Friend to get the oxidization off an older RV.

I bought some last year, but never used it.

Tonight, I did, wow, does it ever work. Some elbow grease needed, but not too much. And surprisingly very little needed to clean a 27 foot RV.

Tomorrow night I will follow up with the ZEP floor polish.

Does anyone have a suggestion on what I can use on the roof? I am worried that floor polish will make it slippery.

  • Thanks for the tip!

I used Barkeepers Friend on the oxidized forest green/tan/purple striping our 1995 Wilderness Fifth Wheel and dark green striping on our Chaparral boat. Both came out BEAUTIFULLY.

It was a bit alarming to see the color run off the striping on the FW but once rinsed the colors are sharper and more vivid. It also worked wonders on some light scratches and mildew spots.

We also noticed that our boat doesn't water spot in the BKF cleaned test area.

    Very happy with our results.

You're using too much. That's why it takes four coats, minimum. Shouldn't run too much when using right amount.
  • Don't forget to rinse...again and again and again! Prep for the Zep is the key...
  • Love Bar Keepers Friend. Nothing works better on pots & pans, stainless steel sinks, etc.
  • Tothill...Thanks for the tip on the Bar Keepers Friend. Although our TT isn't oxidized yet, I think I'll try it on our boat. It is older and has oxidation on it, for which I have tried so called "Marine" oxidation removers/waxes, etc. I'm sure that a can of Bar Keepers Friend is much less expensive than what I paid for the "Marine" specific stuff that didn't work all that well.

  • I just finished today with the ZEP treatment on a 27 footer. Looks great! Spic and Span and water with a car wash brush on the roof. It don't have to be purty. Just clean. Good luck!!
