Many old-timers suggest the "Geo" system of cleaning the tanks. This involves putting anywhere from 1/2 to 1 cup of dishwashing liquid, 1/2 cup of borax crystals, and 1/4 to 1/2 cup bleach in each tank along with about 1/4 tank of fresh water before driving or hauling the rig. Bumpy or curvy stretches of road are even better! As full-timers, we do this every month or two before we move to keep the tanks and sensors clean. In reality, though, you may keep the tanks clean, but the the stock sensors are notoriously unreliable, anyway.
