I've got 2 235 AMP Hour GC2 6's. They are tried and proven.

Reesidental fridge draws 10 to 20 amps running (About half the time)

Batteries hold
Group 24 about 75 each
Group 27/29 Just under/over 100 each
Group 31 about 130
On these 12 volt MARINE/deep cycle batteries you can safely use about 25 percent

GC-2 (Six volt golf car batteries) about 220 give or take and you can use safely HALF. NOTE these are the 20 hour rates.. Faster discharge you get LESS capacity

SO if your fridge is 10 amps. a pair of GC-2 MIGHT provide overnight power provided you dont' sleep in. and have NO OTHER LOADS.

Reason # 1 why I have an Absorption (RV type) Fridge not a compressor job.

All they will be doing is sleeping and using the bathroom in their camper, with minimal LED lighting. They won't even be using their water pump the first couple nights because they will still be winterized. Once we get far enough south we'll be in a campground for a night and they can recharge, but I think that will be the third night. I'm just concerned about keeping their furnace running enough to keep them from freezing.

Any evening time will be spent in ours for eating, playing cards, etc.

Do you or they have a decent air compressor? Cheap oiless pancake/hot dog compressors are very handy when airing up. Also handy to have 120 volts and air pressure for other tasks.

A reglur ole battery charger of some sort is also handy

If they are just running the furnace and not a bunch of incandescent bulbs they should be fine on two group batteries. That's not keeping the heat on 70 when it's in the 30's. Furnace will often pull about 5.x amps.

I wouldn't run naked with no back up plan. I'd probably have a inv generator on hand and a couple gallons of gas. Even if they buy one and don't even open the box, just return it.

If it's getting evening and the battery voltage is dropping faster than expected run the Genny.

That's what I'm thinking. I'm trying to get them to upgrade their batteries before we go.

I have just the gen set he needs ,all inclosed hooks into the bumper reciever ,a generac 30amp. he can run what ever he wants.
