Not on a Sprinter; there it's "only" a 140 HP generator :P. Of course, the limitation on power output is the auxiliary alternator, which I don't recall seeing specific details on but almost certainly is not more than a few kilowatts or about 5 HP.
Is it more efficient to idle the main engine than to run a small generator in its powerband? Perhaps sometimes, perhaps not others; RV generators do not tend to have the most advanced engine designs around.
