I question whether generator was cause.
"Rice Lake Township firefighters say the carbon monoxide levels in the camper were high and a generator was found nearby"

Generator found nearby......doesn't mean it was source.
Could have been faulty rv furnace, stove or some other heating device being used.
And what about CO alarm.....didn't have, bad unit, bad battery.

Typically these types of incidents are so easily prevented.

Reporters just don't know how to report anymore.

It just happened and Rice Lake is a rural county. I'm sure there will be a complete investigation and eventually the family will know for sure what happened. I will probably never know because it is so far from me that this is the only time I will hear of it.

None of my older TT ever had a CO alarm from the factory. I did add one but, a lot of people around here I know don't even have any in their houses. I've tried giving them away for Christmas but, they just get shoved in a drawer. I know one woman with children that would not put up the smoke or CO detectors I got her because they did not match her houseold décor. :S

  • Oh, serious tragedy. And yes, there's a reason the box and the instructions for generators warn people not to run them in enclosed/occupied spaces. You simply must make sure that they are well vented away from your living space. Ditto those propane Mr. Heater things. (THOSE, btw, scare the******outta me, and you will find folks who swear by them on here.)
