Beach Camping

Looking to do more beach camping in the coming years. We’ve got a 35 gallon thetford tote to dump gray at a typical campground without a sewer but what are my options for dumping gray while on the beach?

  • When we dry camp, we NEVER have needed our tote for black water, only needed it for Gray water.

If I actually needed to dump black water, I'd move the trailer to a dump station, rather than attempting to dump it in the tote and then tow it to the dump station.
  • Using your tote on sand is no problem. After filling from the camper, in order to drag it through the sand to get it to truck-car hitch, tie a rope around the handle and the other end to the hitch of your truck. Pull the tote out of the loose sand until you can attach to your hitch on the road. I do this when the ground is very soft, or on sand, or if on dirt and it's muddy. Works very well, and never a problem once the tote is on the road. It's easy to move then.
  • I agree with the others - your option for dumping gray at the beach are zero. Tote or drive, neither is all that difficult.
  • You only have 2 choices. One is to take your RV to a nearly dump station or use the tote.
  • You are taking a nice sunset stroll barefoot down the beach and walk right through a nice patch of sand where someone else dumped their "grey" water..........YUK !!!
  • If this is something you are going to do regularly, you mightt want to check out Doug's website and see what he has done.

  • Offhand, I'd say you have zero options for dumping your gray water on the beach, at least in beach areas under the control of government authorities such as county, federal, and others. Best bet is to get a second tote if using the one for black doesn't work.
  • Find a dump station would be my best guess. What other options would there be?
  • Zero...absolutely zero dumping gray water on the beach. Irresponsible! Food particals and soap all over the beach and land nearby? To propose that is shocking.
