I don't mean to rain on your parade, however the short box on the Dodge you are looking at should be called a "mini" box. It is really short. I know several fiver owners who tried it and found it to be too short to properly accommodate a fifth wheel trailer especially when making tight turns or backing.
Newer trailers may already have the axles mounted below the springs, so you may not have and adjustment there. I had to swap out the rear leaf spring brackets to lower the back of my truck two inches in order to lower the front of my fiver and still maintain the six inch clearance between the trailer and truck bed rails.
Yes, the Ram short box box is just 6'4", but Gary's picture above (Ram short box) indicates that a 5th wheel fit can be achieved with a slider hitch and with added help from the newer Excel's cut-back (contoured) lower front corners. That's what I'm banking on (hopefully!).
Thank you for your comment.

The Ram MEGA Cab bed is NOT 6'4",is only about 5'. The Ram CREW Cab has the longer boxes.
Not to be argumentative BUT if you go to ramtrucks.com and click build they list the 2014 Ram Magacab as having a 6'4" box the same as the crew cab. Maybe Ram is incorrect but I sorta doubt it.
