Over loaded pickup

I am known for not caring about the manufacturers payload ratings and will not hesitate to put 3k in the back of my 2500, but that is just ridiculous. That is what they make utility trailers for.

It happens hundreds of times a day. I am guilty of overloading my truck on more than one occasion. This is an extreme example.
Most suppliers will not put a load like that on a truck. Liability.
Our local gravel pit will not load a single wheel pick up,no matter the rating.
Show up with a single wheel 3500 and you will be shovel loading right next the 1500,s

Overloaded? Likely, but a little for-thought in the order of loading could improve things a lot. Put that sheetrock on the floor of bed would lower COG a bunch. Then put lumber on top, long boards end even with tailgate. Then center the shorter boards over front of bed. This would move COG back up, but also forward to level truck out

That would likely not change a thing!

My company once bought a used Toyota Tundra w all the bells and whistles from a retiring employee. I asked him if he’d ever loaded heavy and he told me he had 8 tons of gravel on a trailer he towed for 15 or so miles.

I drove it about a year and I was lucky it didn’t kill me. Both the front and rear differentials failed. Never heard of Ford, GM, or Ram failing.

My nephew, 27 yrs. old, decided to build a deck. Didn’t want to pay a delivery charge, so he go his BIL with his truck to go to the lumber yard to get 36 bags of concrete. The gentleman at the yard with his forklift ask if the truck could hold the load, BIL says “it’s got a V8”. Forklift operators says ok, you know the rest of the story.

I have overloaded my trucks over the years, but that there is just sheer stupidity....

The world is full of stupid people. I don't know where they have all come from.

I took my utility trailer into a landscape yard for some road base. I told the operator of the front end loader that my trailer was only rated for 2,500 pounds. He knew exactly how much he could load without overwhelming it. He knew the volume of his bucket and the weight of the material per cubic yard. He stopped when the springs were compressed most of the way. Only about 7 inches of material were in the bed of the trailer. A clueless operator could have wrecked the trailer.

I see that almost every time I go to Home Depot.
