Before a scheduled surgery
A lot of folks have been updating us on their various scheduled surgeries. I pray they are all doing well.
Anyhow, I maybe should've mentioned this BEFORE their surgery. One of the most annoying things post-op is constipation, from the pain meds and immobility.
They never tell you to do this BUT, it's a good idea to have a good BM before the day of surgery. Whatever works for you, use it. Now, you don't want to get 'the runs', but you want to start your hospital stay with a 'clean slate', (if you know what I mean). It's no fun being uncomfortable with constipation and a new hip or knee.
If you get constipated, you'll have to get a suppository or enema-so, try and stay regular and you'll do better!
