Best Camping World By Long Island?

We are jut past the halfway point of our camping offseason. We just got hit with 10" of snow and daytime temps hover around 15 with below zero wind chills. Thoughts of summer beach camping creep into our heads. :-)

With that said, we'd like to visit a camping world to help satisfy our camping obsession right now. I know there's at least one just north of NYC and a few in Jersey.

We're not looking at campers since we just bought a new one last year but I'm sure we'd look anyway. What we really want to do is go and check out the camping accessories. What camping world close to Long Island has the best selection of accessories for our trailer?

Go check out some Walmarts, they're just as good as Camping World (allot cheaper) & there just might be some RV's in the lot you can check out....lol!
  • The RV shows should be coming around soon, a better experience IMO that a trip to CW. We've gone to this show a couple times, where we found our Sunnybrook:

    Feb 14-17 Suffern, NY

There used to be one in the Coliseum, but looks like not much is there anymore....doubt they are going to have one in Brooklyn for the same reason they never had one in the Garden, just to much of a PIA getting the rigs in/out.
  • Since you have internet service, Google CW and click on the "Locations" tab. You will get the complete list.

  • The Lakewood store would be the closest... The weekend of February the 14th is the Suffern NY RV Show.. it will have RV's and accessories.. We usually like to hit that during the winter months to get our heads into the camping state of mind..

.OR that same weekend is the Atlantic City RV show,,,, stop by and try your luck BEFORE the RV show.. who knows , maybe a new Diesel Pusher is in your future! :B

Joe.. and yes.... out on the Island , you live in your OWN world out there ! I know because I visit Bethpage and Hauppauge every 5 weeks.
  • The Camping World in NY is far north from NYC in Kingston. We went (from LI) to Kingston when we were shopping for RVs and the trip took us over three hours one way. The Camping World closest in NJ is about 2/3 of the way or more to Atlantic City. We went there once and it was a small store that we spent a half hour in, as there was really not much to see - though what was there, as typical of Camping World, were some things we had not seen before other than on websites or ads. There really is no Camping World close to LI. I wish there was.

On LI we are in an RV desert with very few RV dealers who have very small accessories shops, if they have any at all.
  • There are a few in FLORIDA I would highly recommend-by far the best Camping World to visit in the winter if you're from metro NY! ;)

Honestly-I haven't been to one anywhere up north worth visiting just to browse...
  • Lakewood, NJ is a pretty small store and does not stock a whole lot. Unless you're already heading for the Jersey Shore, it's probably not worth the drive from LI. I haven't been to the South Jersey or NY stores so can't comment there.
