Best propane tankless water heater? 2017

As for a 2017 yr model I cannot say. I installed a Dometic in my 5th wheel early 2016. Whether on FHU or using pump in RV I have plenty of hot water. Heats nearly immediately. Do not have to wait for 10 gallons of water to heat up to consider getting a shower. DW can follow immediately behind me.

Water and propane use is slightly lower. Follow instructions in manual. Turn on hot water first, then temper with cold water valve to taste.

Thermostat is adjustable at heater to adjust for water temp if on FHU with good cold ground water.

I would have never done this if my OEM Hot Water Heater had not died. When searching for a replacement found this model on sale at PPL for less money than a new version of the heater it replaced.

We have a Precision Temp unit in our coach, came that way from the factory. Was a bit worried at first, but we now have learned to love it. It starts heating quickly and supplies pleanty of hot water. In spite of the naysayers, it really does use less propane than a tank style unit. Most who put down these units have never had one and often are speaking what some salesman told them.

Salesmen lie!

I don't know the answer either, but I can attest that the water heater and fridge will both run off a tank of propane for loooong time.

We installed one at our office for the kitchen sink and I certainly would NOT recommend it. Definitely not a fan of tank less.

I would almost rather use the type that you find in 3rd world countries that screw onto the shower arm and plug in to an extension cord! Dangerous? You bet. Illegal in USA and most developed countries? You bet. However they did make HOT water quicker and hotter than the tank less that I have had experience with here.
Please note: Although I have used them in other countries, I would NOT recommend them, unless you are in 3rd world, then it's up to you, your call.

IMHO, Save yourself the dissatisfaction and get a standard tank water heater...

I spent $800 for a Bosch unit when I built my house and threw it away 2 years later. The things dont turn on until a certain flow is reached, so if you wanted a warm shower instead of full hot, it immediately went all cold. and with all the enviro friendly fixtures 1.5 gpm or so sinks, showers etc, the thing was useless.

50 years ago I worked in Tripoli Libya where the villas all had tankless propane water heaters. Had several expats killed because they sucked all the oxygen out of the bathroom -- just go to sleep, never wake up. Make sure these things are safe now --- I know, 50 yrs, but we seem to have just discovered these things and I wonder if we know what we are doing.

I know nothing about tank less heaters but...
We were told it should only be used where you have good pressure like city water. Our cottage waterpump does not put out enough pressure so we were advised against it.

I don't think there is one. I'm just not a fan of tankless for any RV installation.
