Best road atlas

We normally just use a gps but I am looking for an Atlas for DH for Christmas. Can anyone tell me which one you use? Thanks
  • I just threw an old 2004 atlas away. I plan to go to wally world and get another for about $5
  • Another vote for Michelin.
Once you use it you never settle for less.
  • Rand McNally Motor Carrier's Road Atlas - we wouldn't leave home without it (and a GPS). Lists low bridges, restricted roads and highlights the truck routes. If a trucker can run it so can an RVer!
  • The Michelin North American Road Atlas 2010 is the most complete spiral bound atlas I've found.

I've ordered about a dozen different atlas's off Amazon and compared them. This was the most complete and showed the most secondary roads. The best part was it showed all campgrounds!! No matter where I was, I knew if there was a camp ground available if I continued in the direction I was headed or where one would be near by. Also how many campgrounds.

For example; I was traveling between Tiger, WA and Colville, WA on Hwy20 (294). It was about 4pm and I wanted to find a spot for the night. This map showed me there were 3.
  • We have the Rand McNally.
A GPS is good, but I need that big picture map to really actually see where I'm headed.
  • Rand McNally Motor Carrier's Road Atlas. Available at truck stops.
  • We are 2 months into our trip from Alaska to the East coast and have been using the Rand McNally large scale atlas (2014). We also use a gps but couldn't have used it alone. The atlas is the best tool we have, the large print helps these old eyes.
  • Delorme Street Atlas, and Google Earth/Maps. Haven't really used a paper map in years. I have a bunch, but they just gather dust.

The Delorme atlases are very good, but they are pricey. Rand Mcnally has put out good maps in the past.

Butler maps have some stellar motorcycling maps.
  • Rand McNally Motor Carrier's Road Atlas - it's what the truckers use.
