Best Sales Platform?

What is your opinion as to the best platform for private sales? CraigsList? RVTrader? Some other one I have not heard of yet?
  • I have successfully sold on Craigslist and Letitgo. As mentioned above put all the information someone can ask for.

Use all the advertising you can. My 5er sold in one day and had multiple buyers, so my price was likely a little low, but my boat has not had anyone come see it, so it may be to high.

Craigs list can work but you need to have a price that is in line with similar items.

Letitgo sold some of my stuff within a day or so, but you need to install the app and it requires checking for text messages frequently.
  • I would look at forums for what ever you RV is and post on there. i.e. Airstream forums, Forest River forum, etc. That's how we sold our previous one.
  • I've had good luck with Craigslist; sold cars, motorcycles, campers, bicycles
many times; It's easy to spot the wackos, low ballers and tire kickers.

Last week I list my van on Thursday - sold on Friday with only a couple of
    Nigerian Princes answering my advert.

    Never used RVTrader as my TT sold within a few days of being listed on CL;
  • I decided to sell a 3 yr old 2013 Keystone in 2015/16, instead of taking a dealers trade-in hit.

I listed it on Craiglist and all it attracted was lowballers, tire kickers, scammers, and a lot of low balling dealers wanting it for on their used lots.

I listed in on both RV Trader and RVT........cost a nice chunk of change. IIRC $75.00 each. Never got a hit. Not one email or call in a month.

I listed it on Ebay as "buy it now". and it sold in 3 days to a Gent in AR, and we're in PA. He paid me extra to haul it half way there and meet him in KY.
  • I wouldn't worry about which is the best - use several of them at the same time.

And do a complete / thorough listing. Put in the tank sizes, the tire size, how many A/Cs with size, number of batteries and age, size of refer, does the WH work on both propane and electricity, 30 or 50 amp service, etc, etc, etc.

When I've been buying an RV I really dislike adds that don't give me enough info to know if I'm interested.

Post good, clear pictures and lots of them.

  • kijiji (like a less ghetto version of your craigslist) up here followed closely by Facebook. Why pay for whats free?
  • Free is always a good thing, but RVTrader probably gets more looks.
