I get this most every day at work. It might be "sweet" the first few times, but after a while it gets annoying when someone treats you as incompetent.
Really, I AM CAPABLE OF LOOKING UP AT THE WALL TO SEE IF THE LIGHT IS ON OR OFF. AND I AM CAPABLE OF UNDERSTANDING THAT IF IT IS ON, THE YARD ALARM NEEDS TO BE SET.
(Sorry, just REALLY gets on my nerve when she does that **** and the boss says "she's just trying to help" - no she isn't, she's being a b!t##).
More than one way to - - - - an idiot. Install a timer or switch or come up with some other method to manipulate the situation.
There's nothing to manipulate - she just has to point out that "the alarm needs setting" when she leaves before me. At least I broke her of the "I'll set the alarm for you" every night (which was stupid because I'm the last one to leave and there are others who leave between her and me that go in and out of the yard - she has set the alarm on them more than once).
