Best "storage" Tent

Anybody have any suggestions on the best - but not too expensive - tent to use for extra storage and possibly some dinning? We are going to be workamping in NY April - Oct. and think we might want something for bikes and such, but have also wanted to add a "Eazy-up" type canopy to our inventory. Trying to decide how best to spend the $$ Thanks

when you are looking be sure to know what is used on the sides. Most of the GAZEBO tents for outside dinning etc seem to only have a good roof. When it rains everything inside gets all wet...

We carry one of those $100 ez up tents that can go up over the picnic table etc... They would not IMO be good for storage of boxes or other things unless you found one with rain proof sides...

  • We used an EZ up brand with the optional, solid sides, for years. It worked well for us. One note: It has no floor so if the rain runs on the ground, through the canopy, that area will get wet. Make sure you it down to resist any wind gusts.
  • I have a little 14 ft travel trailer, so space is at a premium. I like to use a Coleman 4 person Insta-tent as a storage "building". It goes up in minutes and can be folded up and back in the storage bag in less than 10 minutes by one person. I don't bother with the guy wires. It weighs less than 20lbs and fits under the dinette or in the storage space when we travel. It does have a floor. There are windows on three sides.

I usually put it behind the TT. The outdoor furniture, medical oxygen bottles, fishing equipment, bikes or kick scooters go in it at night or when we leave the campsite. Equipment stays dry and out of sight - no one has ever bothered it, either.

DH has difficulty sitting at a picnic table, so I keep a little 4ft folding table and folding chairs to use when we eat outside. We always travel with a $15 box fan to use outdoors if we camp where there is electric. We can easily clear gear out the tent, put the fan in the tent with the windows open, and it becomes a good dining room option. That is especially nice in a site with no shade. The air moving in the tent keeps the bugs down, too.

The tent was $100 at that big box store. It is much more useful to us than a canopy.

I like it because it is small and unobtrusive. But, I am really tempted to go with the Ozark Trail 8 person instant tent for our longer stays. Since it is twice the size, I could leave our gear on one side and the table and chairs on the other side. You may want to take a look at that one as well for your workkamping needs.
  • I have seen several hosts that use a regular camping tent to store items while hosting. They are waterproof and have a floor. Plus, the tents don't let people see what you have in there. They are available in many sizes and costs, so you can get what you need.

I doesn't provide for dining, but may serve the storage needs better.

    Just a suggestion....
  • Thank you all so very much for your ideas/suggestions! This will be a first for us and therefore we have so much to consider & think about. You guys are great!
