Go to a bike shop, and get a real basket. They have the ones that have struts that attach to the axle for support. I have one. Works great. The ones at WalMart are pretty useless. Also, for the rear. I have saddle bags. You can get a lot of stuff in there, and when you aren't using them. They lay pretty flat. You can even unhook them, and use them to carry your goods into the camper. About 35 bucks. And the front basket is also around 35 dollars.
I have both on mine, and I love it.
It must look pretty nice as well. Because I was riding down the street the other day, and a middle school kid, hollered. NICE BIKE.
